Head of a Research Group for Systems Biology

The Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) in the Medical Faculty of Muenster focuses on disease oriented research predominantly in the fields of inflammatory, infectious, cardiovascular and neurological diseases. The Center also takes great efforts to make state of the art technologies available to its scientists. Central to this is the technology platform on Integrated Functional Genomics, offering services in the area of Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics. Due to increasing technical sophistication and the rapid development towards single cell analysis, the latter increasingly requires more complex data analyses, e.g. pattern recognition, pathway identification etc.

The IZKF is offering the position of Head of a Research Group for Systems Biology with special emphasis on inflammation and infection. Appointment will be according to the German salary scale (E14) for a period of five years. The successful candidate can recruit one post-doctoral fellow (E13) or two doctoral students (E13, 50%), will be provided with 25.000 Euros/year for consumables, and will have access to research core proteomics, genomics and bioinformatics facilities. Opportunities exist for active collaboration with faculty members studying related themes.

The IZKF is seeking an exceptional, ambitious individual to fill this position. Candidates should have a MD and/or PhD degree, with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding and an active research program. Applicants should demonstrate their potential to develop an outstanding research program with a team of young scientists whose research interests are in accord with the Center's research activities, and should posses the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members.
