Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Systems Biology open

A position is available for an individual with an interest in computational systems biology and/or metabolic engineering. A major focus of the project will be to refine the genome-scale metabolic network reconstruction of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, an alga of interest for its ability to produce hydrogen and other biofuel targets. There is also substantial interest in applying the metabolic network to pursue novel metabolic engineering hypotheses. This work is being done in collaboration with Dr. Kourosh Salehi-Ashtiani and other experimental researchers at the Center for Cancer Systems Biology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School.

Excellent communication skills and a Ph.D. in bioengineering, bioinformatics, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a suitable quantitative field with strong experience working on biological applications are required. Individuals with backgrounds in metabolic network reconstruction or metabolic engineering are especially encouraged to apply. The position will remain open until filled. The Computational Systems Biology Laboratory maintains a vibrant research environment, with active research in reconstruction of metabolic, regulatory and signaling networks which are applied toward probing network structure, host-pathogen interaction, and engineering of novel therapeutic targets.

To apply, please send a CV, brief statement of research accomplishments and career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Jason Papin (papin@virginia.edu).
