Post-Doc in Applied Image Processing (Virtual Microscopy)

The TIGA is collaborating with many research groups of the Heidelberg University Hospital (e.g. Institute of Pathology, National Center for Tumor Diseases), the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), international companies and BMBF-project partners from different universities. The TIGA is running manifold research projects covering clinically relevant questions in terms of the semi-automatic and automatic processing of tissues by using high-throughput microscopy, particularly virtual microscopy. More precisely e.g. diagnostic
approaches using histological tissue sections are developed as well as methods to extract relevant data for systems biological tissue simulations out of the images. Your task is to plan projects together with our partners within the given research framework and to develop and finally publish novel image processing algorithms.

Environment: The TIGA Center is a cooperative unit with multiple partners and is hosted in the internationally leading systems biological center BIOQUANT at the University Heidelberg. You will work in close collaboration with multiple research groups of the University Hospital (e.g. National Center for Tumor Diseases), German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and other groups. Position: We are looking for a committed and integrating personality who values this special environment and would like to contribute his or her outstanding experience in developing image processing algorithms. Particularly, the existing image processing platform should be used and further developed within the scope of the various research projects. Also we expect a strong interest for systems biology, the ability to communicate in English in daily routine and to write scientific publications. Participation in teaching is welcomed.
