Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Programme in Youth Mental Health open

Two postdoctoral research fellowships are available from November 2012 as part of a Health Research Board funded Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement (ICE) Award to Department of Psychiatry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the National Suicide Research Foundation, Cork, in collaboration with Inspire Ireland Foundation and the Orygen Youth Health Research Centre, Melbourne, Australia. The ICE awards are designed as development and training awards to attract, engage and mentor future leaders in population health and health services research. A detailed training programme will be devised for both postdoctoral fellows that will incorporate a period of research experience in an international centre of excellence.

Topic: Youth Mental Health - a population-based research programme.

Post 1: Postdoctoral research fellowship in youth mental health (focus on early psychosis).
This post will be based mainly in the Department of Psychiatry, RCSI Education and Research Centre, Beaumont Hospital.

Post 2: Postdoctoral research fellowship in youth mental health (focus on suicidal behaviours among young people). This post will be based mainly in the National Suicide
Research Foundation, Cork.

Salary and duration: The postdoctoral fellowship positions are available for up to three years (full-time or potentially part-time). Salary will be based on the IUA postdoctorate researcher salary scale according to experience. Posts available from 1st November 2012 (start date negotiable). There will be a review of progress after 12 months.

Essential requirements: A PhD in a population health or mental health discipline and an excellent knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics.
